 +With the [[Material-Manager]] materials can be assigned to already existing drawing objects (see **Allocate materials later**). You also can select new drawing objects and at the same time creating material information (see **Create new material objects**). ​
  
 +There is also the possibility to directly create individual materials without existing drawing objects.

 +===== Create new material objects =====
 +At this work method materials are allocated directly in the detection process. Existing drawing objects are directly equipped with material information when they are detected in the **Material-Manager**. There is also the possibilty to create individual materials directly from the **Material-Manager**. ​

 +Start the command with Menu **Material > Select by... > Outline Tracing** {{:​produkte:​cad:​planung:​mat0001.png?​nolink|}} or **Existing Objects** {{:​produkte:​cad:​planung:​mat0002.png?​nolink|}} or with the mouse by right-click.

 +With this function existing objects are detected as material objects. The detection of the material quanities refers to the 2D development,​ ie. even when 3D-Objects are selected a quantity determination is conducted in the projection.

 +When detecting the program recognizes automatically,​ whether it is a distance or an area. Accordingly,​ different calculation- and distribution parameters are displayed.

 +Is the option **Calculation** activated the number of materials is calculated in relation to the object, with the option **Fixed number** an absolute value has to be entered which has no relation to the object size.

 +Provided, the calculation is activated parameters for it can be setup in the field **Calculation**. In the field **Attribute** the available attributes from the tab **Properties** are listed. Additionally,​ the formula editor can be opened with **[...]**. Here, new attributes can be created or allocated. These are also listed in the tab **Properties**,​ and after the application in the field **Calculation** as default setting.\\ **Calculation factor**: Here, all calculation factors from the tab **Technical Details** in the Material Catalogue are listed. As **Factor** any value can be entered into the field. With this, different surcharges, layer thinknesses,​ additions, etc. be defined. ​ Pre-set is the value for the compaction factor in the tab **Technical Data** in the Material Catalogue.
