 +With the command **GEODIMETER** an ASCII-file created by a total station of the company Geotronics can be imported into DATAflor CAD. At this, there is no default file extension, because different extensions can occur with Geotronics-files. In the files the different set elements are distinguished by two-digit number keys, the so called Labels. Valid DATAflor CAD keys are:

 +The manufacturers constantly improve their file formats. Different appliances of a manufacturer can have different configurations and functions. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to test the transfer to DATAflor with demo data prior to the purchase of a total station.

 +===== Procedure =====
 +  - After entering the command a dialogue for the file selection appears where the file to be imported can be selected. Switch to the respective directory, select the file, and confirm it with **[Open]**.
 +  - In the following dialogue box the [[totalstation_konfig|Konfiguration]] can be adjusted via the menu **Options**. The menu item [[Codierung]] offers the option to make amendments regarding the point import.\\ In the field **Point groups** the surveyed points, polygons, or circles etc. are listed with their caption corresponding with their allocated codes in the following order: cross or no cross (geometrie is inserted or not inserted), code name, geometry, layer name.\\ {{:​produkte:​cad:​dgm:​total003.png?​nolink|}}
 +  - At the same time, the preview of the survey is displayed in the current drawing. By default the marking all points is set to **ON** - which means that the objects are displayed white in the preview (or at a white monitor background respecitvely black).
 +  - If entries are clicked in the field **Point group**, then the allocated points or polygons are underlayed red. In the field **Point lists** the data of individual points of geometries are displayed. Order: X-value, Y-value, Z-value, point code places 1-4.
 +  - All point groups that are marked with **X** on the left are inserted into the drawing. If some elements are not required in the drawing, they have to be marked and the option **Visible** has to be deactivated - the **X** then disappears.

 +===== Functions =====
 +In the centre of the dialogue there are three functions to control the generation of drawing elements.

 +|**Create point symbol**|With the option **Create point symbol** you can specify, whether only mere graphic information (lines, arcs, circles,​...) or also points with caption (DATAflor text labels) are created.\\ \\ <WRAP round important 90%>This option is already activated for the graphic type **Point**. For other graphic types, eg. polygon and circle, this option is deactivated by default.</​WRAP>​|
 +|**Create 2D-points**|With the option **Create 2D-points** all objects (points, graphic, and text) are inserted into the drawing with the height 0.00. Via the menu **Options** > [[totalstation_konfig|Konfiguration]] the original Z-height can be entered, though. This is sensible if you do not want to work with the digital terrain model, but only create a drawing in plan view or a site plan.|
 +|**Visible**|The option **Visible** controls the transfer of point groups into the drawing. Visible elements are marked in the field Point group with **X**. If a point group is set to invisible, the **X** vanishes and the point group is not transferred into the drawing when importing. Default setting for all point groups is visible.|
