+====== Database and network access ======

 +===== Description =====
 +With the program **Database and network access** you can control special program functions: Setup of a network connection, access to databases and imported plant catalogues.
 +
 +The application is started with **//Start > (All) Programs > DATAflor > CAD Tools > Select Database//**.
 +
 +===== Network ====
 +The work with DATAflor CAD becomes effective when all users can access the same data and templates. In the tab **Network** the adjustment of the local workstation to the network environment can be made. DATAflor CAD then uses the allocated configuration.\\ \\

 +
 +==== How to create a configuration in the network ====
 +  - Deactivate the function **Maintain current settings** to make changes to the configuration.
 +  - Select the option **Network (uses the configuration in the network)**.
 +  - Click on **[...]** and select the network drive in which you want to save the configuration.\\ <WRAP round important 85%>
 +The network drive has to be available to all users and all users need full access to this directory.</WRAP>
 +  - Click on **[Copy configuration to network drive]**. The data from the DATAflor user directory of the current workstation is copied to the specified directory. This procedure needs only to be done on one workstation, then, all other workstations can use this configuration in the network. <WRAP round important 85%>
 +To use DATAflor CAD in the network it may be necessary to prepare one configuration which is made available to all users. This method is described in detail in chapter **Setup configuration**, see below.</WRAP>
 +  - After copying the configuration close the window **Database and network access** with **[OK]**.
 +
 +==== How to use the configuration in the network ====
 +  - Deactivate the function **Maintain current settings** to make changes to the configuration.
 +  - Select the option **Network (uses the configuration in the network)**.
 +  - Click on **[...]** and select the network drive in which the configuration is stored.\\ <WRAP round important 85%> Requirement for this is an existing configuration in the network.</WRAP>
 +  - Confirm the selection and close the window **Database and network access** mit **[OK]**.
 +
 +==== How to use the network configuration without network accessn ====
 +  - Deactivate the function **Maintain current settings** to make changes to the configuration.
 +  - Select the option **Local (copies the configuration in the current directory)**.
 +  - Confirm the selection with **[OK]**. The data of the network drive is copied to the DATAflor user directory of the current workstation so that DATAflor CAD can operate without network access.
 +  - Close the window **Database and network access** with **[OK]**.
 +
 +If you use DATAflor Business in a network environment, as well, you have the option to setup a replication database. Read more about this topic in chapter **Database**, see below .
 +
 +==== Setup configuration ====
 +To use DATAflor CAD in the network it can become necessary to prepare a configuration which is then made available to all users. For this, the required files can be collected on the workstation dedicated for the configuration by simple copying from the workstations. Mind doubled up file names, though.
 +
 +With some data simply copying is only possible under certain conditions. These files - **//Formuser.LIB//**, **//Listuser.LIB//**, **//Textbausteine.DFT//** and **//Symbols.TAB//** - have to be prepared accordingly.
 +
 +**Preparation of data with the Editor**\\
 +In the file **//Formuser.LIB//** the user-defined entries are saved. DATAflor CAD accesses this file by default when loading or saving data. If the contents deviate the user files can be copied together into a common **//Formuser.LIB//** with the Editor. The procedure for the files **//Listuser.LIB//** and **//Textbausteine.DFT//** is conform with the one of the **//Formuser.LIB//**.
 +
 +**Preparation of data with the Tool Renamer**\\
 +In the **//Symbols.TAB//** the name of the symbol line in DATAflor CAD and the name of the corresponding **//SYM//**-file are administered. When creating a symbol line an entry is added in the file **//Symbols.TAB//** and a **//SYM//**-file with consecutive numbering is stored which receives the definition of the symbol line. If this symbol line is used in DATAflor CAD, the program accesses that data.
 +
 +This state requires multiple work steps to collect the files from several workstations.
 +
 +At each workstation all files  **//$LS*.SYM//** have to be renamed in **//User name_$LS*.SYM//**. For this, a program for renaming files can be used (e.g. FileRename).\\ \\
 +
 +
 +The **//Symbols.TAB//** needs to be edited as so far as all entries **//$LS//** are substituted by **//User name_$LS//**.
 +
 +The entries with **//User name_$LS//** need to be copied together into a common **//Symbols.TAB//** from all **//TAB//**-files. The entries with **//$DS//** and **//$NS//** need to be copied there only once, because these are installed by DATAflor and identical on all workstations.

 +===== Database =====
 +In the tab **Database** the access to the database can be specified. There are two options available:
 +
 +  * **Local installation or network installation**
 +  * **Replication (local computer)**
 +
 +
 +
 +If DATAflor BUSINESS is installed as an individual place the **Local installation** is always activated.
 +
 +If you use DATAflor BUSINESS in a network environment you have here the opportunity to select the replication database. Read more about this topic in the chapter  Kopplung mit Replikation.
 +
 +If you have installed the multiple mandate manager with DATAflor BUSINESS you can select via a selection dialogue the established mandates. Read more about this topic in the chapter Kopplung mit Mehrmandantenverwaltung.

 +
 +===== Plant Catalogues =====
 +In the tab **Plant catalogues** the access to the plant databases can be specified. DATAflor provides the following programs:
 +
 +  * **DATAflor BUSINESS**
 +  * **DATAplants BRUNS**
 +
 +
 +
 +Both programs can be installed on a computer together and you can select which program you want to access.
 +
 +In general, this is not required, because usually there is only one of the programs installed.
 +
 +Further information can be found in the chapter Pflanzen (Object-Manager).
