+===== Description =====
 +The **Terrain cut** creates Profile cuts out of one or more surface (Triangulations, Grids and End area volumes). They can be used as a basis to create perspective views and for illustrative purposes of the terrain situation.
 +As cutting line the following AutoCAD drawing tools can be used: polyline, line, circle, arc, ellipse or even a spline.
 +
 +----
 +===== Procedure =====
 +==== Create a Terrain cut ====
 +**Quick-DTM >** right mouse click on a **Triangulation**, a **Grid** or **End area volume > Terrain cut**
 +
 +After selecting the function you can draw the desired **gradient** in your drawing, or choose the cutting line. Then select the **insert point** for the Terrain cut image in the drawing.
 +
 +
 +----
 +==== Edit Terrain cut ====
 +The basic configuration of the Terrain cut can be edited in the **Profile generation** tab (Quick-DGM > Info button). Here, one or more Surfaces can be activated or deactivated.\\ With modeled Triangulations or End area volumes there are two types, un-modeled and modeled. **Modeled** means the base Terrain, including changes in the model will be included in the calculation of the profile. **Un-modeled** works with the base Terrain without any inserted modeling.
 +
 +
 +
 +Each selected Surface display can be configured in the profile. Mark the corresponding entry and change the parameters for the display and labeling.\\
 +This way you can for example change the line color for the base Terrain to red, and the line color for the new planned Terrain to blue.
 +
 +
 +
 +For the **calculation** you also can decide if you want to use //cut and fill//, //fill only// or //cut only//.
 +
 +Information’s such as **base thickness** and **length** you can find in the **Info** tab.

 +===== Functions =====
 +==== Layout tab ====
 +In the **Layout** tab in the area **caption profile lines**, you can define the appearance of the text in the profile: title, color, text stile and text size.
 +
 +<WRAP round important 90%>
 +When **edeting a text style**, note that this only affects the text in the existing profile, but not to the overall profile.\\ To adjust text sizes, **variable text styles ** suits best. For more information read chapter **text style** Wichtige Hinweise.
 +</WRAP>
 +
 +There are different **variables** you can choose from:
 +^Description^Symbol^Example^
 +|Profil number|%N|Cut 1|
 +|Double profil number|%N - %N'|Cut 1-1’|
 +|Profil number'|%N'|Cut 1'|
 +|Profil area (with REB mass formulas)|%F|78.67|
 +
 +The **Profil number** is used, if in **Title** a value to the profile number is selected.
 +
 +For the **spacing value**, there are 2 options: at **Start profil line** the first point of the linne is the start point for the distance measuring. At start Terrain the first contact between the line and the Terrain is the point for the distance measuring.
 +
 +
 +
 +In the **display profile** section you can assign the selected **colorations** to show colored cut and fill areas in the Terrain cut. To color the Terrain cut makes it easy to understand and visualize the different profiles. Apply the option color of End area volume and then define the **color in the End area volume** section.
 +
 +Additionally you can use the option **exaggeration**. A value of 1 shows the real height in the profile. The value 2 doubles the height differences, so you can see the difference more clearly.
 +
 +The **precision** value can be set from 3 to 10. This way an internal calculation checks if there are any unnecessary height points that can be deleted to simplify the drawing and make it better to read. The algorithm checks whether between two height points a third point is on the same line. If so it can be removed from the profile view. The set value shows the absolute difference of the heights. The higher the value, the more detailed is the shown Surface profile.
 +
 +----
 +==== Advanced Settings tab ====
 +In the **Label** tab, the **size** and **color** for title, mass numbers, measure row title, and dimension line can be set. In addition you can adjust the orientation. For the **dimensional line title distance**, a different name can be entered. Also you can **specify the number of decimals**.
 +
 +In the **Display** tab you can switch the **profile frames** between visible or invisible. You can define the heights of the profiles. The width of a profile is determined by the length of the profile line in the drawing. With **spacing start** and **spacing end** you can set a fixed value to determine the distance of the Surface to the profile limits. You also have the ability to round up to full digits (for example 10).
 +
 +If the profile group contains multiple surfaces (see also tab profile generation), with the tab **Sequence** you can set the order in which the dimension lines of the surfaces will be displayed in the cut. The column **Visible** indicates whether the surface is displayed. In addition, here you can also edit the **Description** of the surface.
 +
 +
 +
 +In the **Coloration** tab the color fill can be activated or deactivated (**Color profiles**, also see **Layout** tab **> Display profile**). The settings for **color cut and fill** are used out of the Layout tab. There is a standardized color by default. But you can add and select a second color. Then it comes to the dialog below you have to choose the calculation. (see Example: fill profil (two colors)).
 +
 +Example: Color cut and fill\\
 +
 +
 +The entire profile can be filled with a color (**fill profiles**), where the paste area is determined automatically (minimum and maximum height in the area). Still a second color can be adde.
 +
 +Example: Color cut and fill + fill profile (one colr)\\
 +
 +
 +You can **draw contourlines in the profiles**.
 +
 +Example: Fill profil (two colors) + conturline\\
 +
 +
 +For the **calculation** of the option **fill profiles** and **draw contourlines in the profil** you can set the **distance** and **numbers** of intervals. The colors for the color flow will be interpolated.
 +
 +<WRAP round tip 90%>
 +The settings for the tabs **General**, **Profile generation**, Layout and **Advanced settings** can be defined as default in the Configuration window (see Quick-DGM) for all other drawings.
